Energy class in Portugal (Certificado Energético)
Official certificate: Certificado Energético
Portugal uses the Certificado Energético certificate to classify the energy performance of buildings.
The scale is relative: thresholds are expressed as a ratio to a reference building.
Official Certificado Energético scale
| Class | Max EP ratio |
|---|---|
| A+ | ≤ 0.25 |
| A | ≤ 0.50 |
| B | ≤ 0.75 |
| B- | ≤ 1.00 |
| C | ≤ 1.50 |
| D | ≤ 2.00 |
| E | ≤ 2.50 |
| F | ∞ |
How the estimate works in Portugal
In Portugal, the class is based on the ratio between the estimated energy consumption and that of a standard reference building. This method is called relative or ratio-based.
