Energy class in France (DPE)
Official certificate: DPE
France uses the DPE certificate to classify the energy performance of buildings.
The scale is absolute: thresholds are expressed in kWh/m²·yr. Dual criterion: the final class is the worse of energy and CO₂ (kgCO₂/m²·yr).

How the estimate works in France
In France, the DPE class is based on absolute primary energy consumption (kWh/m²·yr). EnergyClass calculates the building's estimated energy need and compares it to official thresholds to assign the class.
